Traffic between Kananga and Ilebo cut off after the collapse of the Katusenga bridge

Heavy rains in Kasaï-Central have caused flooding of the under-construction bridge over the Katusenga River, cutting off traffic on National Road 41 connecting Kananga to Ilebo. Since April 8, 2026, crossing has become difficult, and construction work has been halted for over a month. Marcel Masanka, coordinator of the New Congolese Civil Society, is urging the government to intervene to restore traffic.
