Nigeria: cholera epidemic kills 74 since early May

A cholera epidemic that began in early May in Borno State, northeastern Nigeria, has killed at least 74 people and infected more than 7,800, according to MSF and the state health ministry. Health facilities are overwhelmed in a region ravaged by a 17-year Islamist insurgency. MSF reported 7,850 suspected cases across 14 local government areas as of June 7, with numbers rising daily. Mass displacement and poor water and sanitation conditions increase the risk of further spread.
