Four Lebanese citizens held by Israel were released and handed over to the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) on September 4, 2026. Lebanese President Joseph Aoun thanked the United States for its role in facilitating the transfer. This release follows a pledge by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to free five Lebanese prisoners, including Malek Ghazi, the first to be released. Other released prisoners include Hussein Ayash and Mohammed Juheir.
