APC group insists Karimi won Kogi West senatorial primary

The WWT grassroots mobilisation programme in Kogi State says Senator Sunday Steve Karimi remains the APC candidate for Kogi West in the 2027 general elections, despite a Federal High Court ruling nullifying his candidacy. The group says the party’s appeal committee upheld Karimi’s victory in the May 18, 2026 primary and that his name was subsequently submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). It disputes the ruling by Justice Salim Olasupo Ibrahim in a suit filed by Samuel Bamidele Aro and says Karimi’s legal team is preparing an appeal.
