Maï-Ndombe: Two killed in attack on cash-in-transit vehicle on RN17

Two people—a police officer and a soldier assigned to protect the convoy—were killed and another person was wounded in an armed attack Sunday evening, October 25, on RN17 in Kutu territory, Maï-Ndombe. Armed men ambushed a SOFIBanque vehicle about six kilometres from Konkia as it carried funds from Isaka to Bandundu-ville, prompting an exchange of gunfire. Kutu civil society president Fidèle Lizorongo said the attackers took no money; the driver, a police officer and a soldier escaped unharmed. The victims’ bodies were taken to the morgue at Bandundu General Referral Hospital, and four occupants of the vehicle survived the attack.

Money laundering: New charge complicates Diodio Glow Skin’s situation

The Pikine-Guédiawaye prosecutor’s office has added money laundering, extortion and incitement to commit an offence charges to the case involving Mame Diarra Thiam, known as Diodio Glow Skin. Her name emerged from an examination of Rokhaya Fall’s phone; investigators found a Wave transfer receipt for 600,000 CFA francs dated March 2, 2026, of which 595,000 francs was received. Prosecutors may seek to link the money transfers to alleged payments for supportive livestreams on social media. Thiam says the transfer was social assistance to Fall; she has been charged and placed under electronic monitoring with a curfew-like home assignment from 10 p.m., and remains presumed innocent.

Sixty Christians killed in Ethiopia’s Oromia region

At least 60 Orthodox Christians were killed in two attacks on October 20 and 24 in Ethiopia’s Arsi Zone in Oromia, according to the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church. Fourteen people were killed in Gora Silingo, Merti district, and 46 in the villages of Tereta, Chole and Birbo, Shirka district; more than 20 people were seriously injured and 20 homes were burned. The church’s holy synod condemned the killings and urged authorities to protect civilians and bring those responsible to justice. No one immediately claimed responsibility; media reports said a local official blamed a newly formed rebel alliance that includes the Oromo Liberation Army, which has previously denied attacking civilians.
