ECOWAS: AES makes an announcement before its nationals in New York

The foreign ministers of the Sahel States Alliance (AES), Karamoko Jean-Marie Traoré, Abdoulaye Diop, and Bakary Yaou Sangaré, met with the diaspora in New York on September 27, during the UN General Assembly. They announced that AES aims to build a partnership with ECOWAS based on a clear legal framework, considering the interests of the populations. AES, formed in September 2023 and became a confederation in 2024, officially left ECOWAS in January 2025 and seeks to negotiate a respectful cooperation respecting each organization's sovereignty.
