Nigeria Joins Global Measurement Pact

Nigeria signed the International Committee for Weights and Measures’ Mutual Recognition Arrangement (CIPM MRA) in France during the 28th General Conference on Weights and Measures. Standards Organisation of Nigeria Director-General Ifeanyi Chukwunonso Okeke signed the agreement; Nigeria had become an Associate State of the BIPM on June 4, 2026. The recognition is expected to secure global acceptance of Nigerian calibration certificates, ease cross-border trade and reduce reliance on foreign metrology services. Nigeria joins Egypt, Kenya, Morocco, South Africa and Tunisia among the African countries with BIPM membership.
