4 African Countries Ranked Among the World’s Best Places to Live in 2026

Seychelles, Mauritius, Cape Verde and Botswana were among the 63 destinations assessed in Nomad Capitalist’s 2026 Nomad Lifestyle Index, ranking ahead of the United Kingdom, Canada and the United States. Seychelles led the African countries in 12th place worldwide with 64.46 points, followed by Mauritius in 17th (62.01), Cape Verde in 36th (52.16) and Botswana in 44th (49.99). The index considers taxation, safety, climate, residency opportunities, personal freedom, and the quality of services and infrastructure. The UK ranked 47th, Canada 48th and the US 54th.

Issia: Road accident injures 7 and causes significant material damage

A collision involving a private car and a town taxi injured seven people on 19 October 2026, around 4:30 p.m., near the village of Ouandia on the Issia-Daloa road in the Haut-Sassandra region. According to information gathered at the scene, the taxi driven by Doukouré Aboubacar suddenly pulled onto the road from the shoulder, and Koffi Yao Christophe’s car struck it from behind. The car’s four occupants, the taxi driver and passenger, and pedestrian Konaté Oumar were injured; one of the victims was a two-year-old child. Both vehicles ended up in roadside ravines, and ONPC responders evacuated the injured to the emergency department.

Social cohesion: Gathering to “reweave ties among Ivorians” planned for November 7

The Palais des sports in Treichville will host a gathering on November 7, 2026, dedicated to peace, social cohesion and development.
