At Least 4, Including 3 Children, Killed in Oregon Elementary School Shooting

At least four people, including three children, were killed on Thursday in a shooting at Silver Rail Elementary School in Bend, Oregon. Police received a call at 12:59pm local time about a shot fired into a car outside the school; the suspect was shot and killed shortly afterward, but officials had not confirmed whether he was included in the death toll. Authorities were evacuating people from the school room by room, and the number and condition of the injured were not yet known. The FBI was assisting local law enforcement, while Governor Tina Kotek and Senator Jeff Merkley expressed support for the community.
