More than 230,000 people in the Western Cape are still grappling with the aftermath of severe storms in May. The floods damaged nearly 23,000 homes and over 230 roads, leaving at least 11 dead and one missing. Premier Alan Winde estimated economic losses at over R9 billion, including R5.2 billion in agriculture and nearly R2 billion in transport infrastructure. The province is seeking additional support from the national government for recovery.
