Thousands gather in Srebrenica to mark 31 years since genocide

On July 11, 2026, thousands of people including survivors, foreign dignitaries, and religious leaders gathered at the Srebrenica-Potocari Memorial Center to mark the 31st anniversary of the 1995 genocide. Ten newly identified victims were buried during the ceremony. Denis Becirovic, Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, stressed the importance of preserving the truth about the past to secure the future. Dutch Ambassador Henk van den Dool emphasized the role of education in preventing such atrocities.
