Ban all foreign textile materials from entering Nigeria, Senate tells FG

The Nigerian Senate has asked the Federal Government to urgently ban all foreign textile materials from entering the country to revive local cotton production and struggling textile industries. The resolution, passed on Tuesday, followed a motion titled 'Urgent Need to revive the Textile Industries in Nigeria with particular reference to the Kaduna-Kano axis,' sponsored by Senator Sunday Katung and co-sponsored by several other senators. The Senate also urged the government to provide additional funds to the Bank of Industry (BOI) for the textile sector and to encourage cotton farming through the Ministry of Agriculture.
