Kakuzi fails to stop order to cede 3,200 acres land

Agricultural firm Kakuzi has lost an application to block the implementation of a gazette notice ordering it to cede more than 3,200 acres of its land for the settlement of alleged squatters. The Environment and Land Court dismissed the application on July 6, ruling that Kakuzi had not offered any security or stated how it would compensate residents if its appeal fails. The Nairobi Securities Exchange-listed company is contesting a National Land Commission (NLC) decision that also requires it to cede an additional 50 acres to the Murang'a county government.
