Bunia: Water shortage worries displaced people at the ISP site

The ISP displacement site in Bunia’s Muzipela neighborhood is home to nearly 16,000 people but has only one water source for about 3,500 households. Its four taps supply water irregularly, and the distribution network serving the site’s 39 blocks is almost entirely out of service. Olivier Bavi Karba warned that the shortage threatens hygiene and Ebola prevention; some households buy water in nearby neighborhoods while others use water from the Ngezi River. Since the outbreak began in May, the site has recorded about ten confirmed cases and around twenty suspected cases, and Asimwe Kiza is urging humanitarian organizations to act quickly.
