High Court Orders Open Hearing in Petition Challenging Kindiki’s Appointment

The Kenyan High Court has ordered that a petition challenging Deputy President Kithure Kindiki’s appointment and the impeachment of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua be heard in an open court. A three-judge panel allowed the amended petition to be heard in person on November 4 and 5, 2026, at the Milimani Law Courts in Nairobi. The decision followed an urgent application by lawyer Harrison Kinyanjui, who argued that the constitutional issues involved required a public hearing to ensure a fair process.
