Obituary: Serigne Mountakha Mbacké loses his son Serigne Ibrahima Mbacké

Serigne Ibrahima Mbacké, son of the general caliph of the Mourides, Serigne Mountakha Mbacké, passed away on Tuesday, causing mourning within the Mouride community. This death comes just weeks after the loss of his sister, Sokhna Mame Amy Mbacké, on August 5, 2026. Serigne Mountakha Mbacké, the eighth general caliph, has been leading the brotherhood since January 2018 and is facing a painful ordeal with the loss of two of his children in less than a month.
