Nyirangongo: 70,000 people gain access to drinking water thanks to the 'Water for Virunga' project

At least 70,000 people gained access to drinking water in the Kibumba and Buhumba areas of Nyirangongo, thanks to the 'Water for Virunga' project funded by the Netherlands. Launched in December 2016, the project overcame security challenges to transport water over 39 kilometers and install 38 water points. In addition to improving public health, it aims to reduce community tensions related to the management of shared natural resources.
