British adventurer Karl Bushby, 57, arrived at his childhood home in Hull, northern England, on November 2, 2026, after a 28-year journey of about 50,000km on foot. He set out from Punta Arenas, Chile, in November 1998, aiming to reach Hull by an unbroken route without using motorised transport to advance his journey. His route took him through the Americas, across the Bering Strait, and through Mongolia and China; he also swam across the Caspian Sea. Visa and funding problems, detention in Russia, and the loss of sponsors during the 2008 financial crisis stretched a journey he had expected to take 12 years.
