Guinea: Russia delivers drones, bulletproof vests, and military equipment to the army

Guinean President Mamadi Doumbouya received a shipment of military equipment from Russia on May 2 in Conakry, including drones, bulletproof vests, and various defense gear. This acquisition aims to strengthen the Guinean army against security threats in the Sahel region. Russia, which supplied 21% of major arms imported by African countries between 2020 and 2024, continues to expand its military influence on the continent despite its engagement in Ukraine.
