The World Bank has urged Kenya's National Treasury to implement reforms aimed at tightening controls on public payrolls and curbing irregular spending. During a meeting, Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi discussed improving the accuracy of human resource and payroll records. The measures include assigning unified payroll numbers and cleaning up county payrolls based on findings from the Office of the Auditor-General. Over 17,000 suspected ghost workers have been identified across public institutions.
