A Kenyan driver killed during attacks by alleged CODECO in Matete, Djugu

A Kenyan driver was killed during attacks attributed to CODECO militants in the village of Matete along national road 27 on April 12. The assailants targeted 23 public transport vehicles and trucks, firing shots to immobilize them before looting belongings. Local leaders are calling for increased security along this vital route, fearing a deterioration of the security situation after a period of calm. In March, a similar attack had already resulted in the deaths of around 16 people in the Djugu territory.
