WHO Raises Concern Over Hantavirus After Cruise Ship Outbreak in Atlantic

The World Health Organization (WHO) has raised the alarm over a hantavirus outbreak aboard a cruise ship in the Atlantic Ocean, with three confirmed deaths and one patient in intensive care in South Africa. WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus confirmed one laboratory-verified case of hantavirus and five additional suspected cases. The WHO is coordinating with Member States and the ship's operators to arrange medical evacuation for two symptomatic passengers.
