Tanzanian Waste-to-Fish-Feed Firm Selected for Nature Protection Programme

NovFeed, a Tanzanian firm co-founded in 2020 by Diana Orembe and Otaigo Elisha, uses microbial fermentation to turn organic waste into protein-rich fish feed and natural fertilizer. Its products are sold through more than 300 shops and distributors in Tanzania, offering local alternatives to imported fish feed and fertilizer. NovFeed was selected as one of five African businesses for the first cohort of the 12-month Nature-First Innovation Lab, which aims to prepare the companies to raise a collective target of about USD 10 million. The programme will help the firm strengthen its investor materials and expand its operations.

Long Absent from Politics, Idrissa Seck’s New Political Gambit Revealed

After two and a half years of silence since Senegal’s March 2024 presidential election, Idrissa Seck spoke at a press conference on October 27, 2026. The Rewmi party leader criticized the downgrading of Senegal’s economic ratings, social divisions, damage to the country’s diplomatic image, and an institutional crisis he said could paralyze the country. He explained his silence as respect for voters’ choice and time spent observing the new authorities. Coming halfway through the presidential term, his return is presented as an effort to move back to the center of political debate.

A committee recommended dismissals, administrative sanctions and prosecutions of NSCDC officers after 33 detainees died in custody in Minna, along with ₦1.4 billion in compensation. The Lagos-based Dangote Petroleum Refinery has closed its IPO, attracting investors from 120 countries, including all 54 African nations. The company did not disclose the amount raised against its $1.6 billion target, though Aliko Dangote said earlier this month that the target had been exceeded by more than three or four times. The refinery currently has capacity for 700,000 barrels per day and plans to double output to 1.4 million, potentially making it the world’s largest. In July, it secured $2.5 billion in private investment.
