Nigeria’s first Ebola case is ‘highly similar’ to Kenya’s, minister says

Nigeria’s Health Minister Muhammad Ali Pate said genomic tests show the country’s first Ebola case is closely related to Kenya’s index case. Nigeria is the fourth African country affected by the Bundibugyo outbreak, which had exceeded 9,700 confirmed cases and 4,690 deaths by October 20, according to the WHO.

The protocol would make pharmacies frontline centres for symptom recognition, public health education, basic screening and prompt referral of suspected cases. The ACPN said its network could activate the screening protocol within 48 hours of a government directive.
