AFCON 2027 Qualifiers: Guinea suffers defeat against World Cup participant

Guinea started its qualification for AFCON 2027 with a 2-1 defeat against South Africa, a 16th round World Cup 2026 participant. The national team conceded the opening goal at the half-hour mark, equalized at the 69th minute, but lost after Samukelo Kabini scored the winning goal for South Africa at the 77th minute. Guinea, at the bottom of Group D with zero points, needs to bounce back at home against Kenya on October 1 to have a chance to qualify.
