Former Kosovo President Hashim Thaci has been sentenced to 25 years in prison by the Kosovo war crimes tribunal for four counts of war crimes. Thaci, 58, was found guilty of murder, torture, and illegal detention as the top commander of the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) during the 1990s independence war. He was convicted of the murder of 96 political opponents and perceived collaborators with Serbian security forces. Thaci denies all charges.
