No Ebola in Niger, state on high alert

Niger State Public Health Director Dr Ibrahim Idris says no Ebola case has been detected in the state and no identified contact of the Ugandan woman suspected of exposure to the virus has entered Niger. Because the state borders the Federal Capital Territory, authorities have activated emergency measures and held a high-level health meeting. Idris urged residents to remain calm, continue their normal activities and follow hygiene guidance, including regular handwashing. An isolation centre is nearly complete, and the state is monitoring the 44 people reportedly linked to the woman.
