Ceuta: Migrant Camps Dismantled Before King Felipe VI's Arrival

In Ceuta, the last major migrant camp was dismantled on Sunday, two days before King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia of Spain arrive. Over 350 police officers, supported by soldiers, moved migrants from makeshift shelters on the El Guano esplanade after they had been displaced from nearby beaches. These shelters were set up following the massive arrival of over 70,000 migrants from Morocco on July 30-31, most of whom have returned to Morocco, while some chose to stay. The royal visit is the first by a Spanish monarch since 2007 and occurs amid Moroccan claims of sovereignty over the enclaves.
