Physiotherapy becomes Kenya’s most popular university course

According to the latest Economic Survey by the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics, enrollments in physiotherapy rose by 29% to 730 students in the 2024/25 academic year, up from 566 the previous year. The Kenya Medical Training College saw diploma enrollments in physiotherapy more than double from 300 students in 2023 to 673 in 2025. Women account for the majority of enrollments, with 307 female students in 2023/24 compared to 259 men. Dr. Kelly Oluoch, CEO of KMTC, attributes the surge to growing public awareness of physiotherapy and global demand for rehabilitation services.
