Candidate for Baccalaureate, El Hadji Yero Basse, ends his life in atrocious conditions

Ablaye Diallo, a final-year student at Lycée El Hadji Yero Basse in Ourossogui, committed suicide on July 6, 2026 after learning he failed the baccalaureate exam. He jumped into a well at the family home around 7 p.m., taking advantage of neighbors' attention to a football match. His body was retrieved shortly before 9 p.m. and taken to the morgue. An investigation has been opened by the gendarmerie.
