Panic grips Ilorin over rumoured bandit attack

A rumour of an imminent bandit attack caused panic in Ilorin, the capital of Kwara State, on Thursday, June 18, 2026. Hundreds of parents rushed to schools to pick up their children, including at ECWA Secondary School, United Secondary School, and other institutions. State Police Commissioner Ojo Adekimi condemned the false alarm and announced a search for the perpetrator, who will be prosecuted for spreading false information. Forest guards and security forces were deployed across the city to reassure residents.
