Electricity: NERC approves special compensation for Band A customers

The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) has approved a special compensation package for eligible Band A customers affected by power supply shortfalls from February to March 2026, due to gas shortages and vandalism. Feeders with 18-20 hours daily supply will be compensated under existing rules; those with less than 18 hours will receive 20% of the February 2026 energy cap for non-MD customers and 20% of average billed energy for MD customers. Prepaid customers get token credits, postpaid get bill adjustments. Compensation for February must be completed by May 31, 2026, and for March by June 30, 2026.
