Tanzanian business magnate Mohamed Dewji announced that his MeTL Group will build a graphite processing plant in Tanzania with an annual capacity of 50,000 tonnes, investing $250 million long-term to produce 99.5% battery-grade graphite. He emphasized that Africa should process its own critical minerals locally to capture more value. Graphite is a key component in lithium batteries for electric vehicles.
