Cape Town teen triumphs at international engineering fair

Connor Kinnes, a 17-year-old Grade 11 student at Elkanah House High School, won first place and Best Project in the Engineering category at the prestigious 1923 International Mathematics, Science, and Engineering Fair (IMSEF) in İzmir, Turkey. His gold medal-winning entry, 'Project Pathfinder: Design and Optimisation of a Static Test Rocket Motor,' focused on improving small-scale rocket propulsion systems. The South African delegation, led by Eskom Expo Ekurhuleni Regional Science Fair Director Palesa Selepe, also saw Joshua Danilatos win first place and a gold medal in Chemistry.
