2027 Finance Bill Deemed Admissible by the National Assembly

The Democratic Republic of the Congo’s National Assembly deemed the 2027 finance bill admissible on October 30. Presented by Prime Minister Judith Suminwa after two days of debate, the proposed budget totals 56.93 trillion Congolese francs, or about $24.8 billion, nearly 12% above the 2026 supplementary budget. It prioritizes security, infrastructure, agriculture, employment and basic social services, while lawmakers raised concerns about resource allocation, transparency and delivery of announced projects. The bill has been referred to the Assembly’s economic, financial and budget oversight committee for further examination.
