Investors snub securities borrowing and lending scheme on share price rally

Investors on the Nairobi Securities Exchange are avoiding the securities lending and borrowing scheme due to a prolonged rally in share prices. Since its introduction in 2020, only 23 successful transactions have been recorded involving six blue-chip companies. Analysts point out that the small size and inefficiency of the Kenyan capital markets, along with the current bullish sentiment, limit the appeal of securities lending and borrowing.
