New twist as Kenya cancels controversial petrol order

The Kenyan government ordered the removal of 60,000 tons of contested petrol imported by One Petroleum, linked to Mohamed Jaffer, amid fears that part of the cargo was consumed over the Easter holidays. Energy Minister Opiyo Wandayi stated that this emergency importation breached existing supply contracts with companies like Saudi Aramco and ADNOC. Three senior officials in the energy sector resigned following this scandal, which led to a Sh14 increase in fuel prices.
