Approximately 3 billion FCFA worth of cashew nuts are lost in the Tchologo region of Ivory Coast due to storage difficulties, according to organizers of the Storage Days event. With an average production of 24,000 tons and loss rates up to 30%, these losses significantly affect the local economy. The issue also affects other crops such as maize, rice, cotton, mango, onion, and tomato, leading producers to sell their harvest immediately at low prices or leave part of it in the fields due to lack of proper storage facilities.
