The Nairobi County government issued a health alert over a potential mumps outbreak in schools, advising parents to keep symptomatic children at home. Mumps is a contagious virus causing painful swelling around the jaw and neck, transmitted through saliva and nasal secretions. Additionally, eight children were rescued from severe conditions in Malindi, where they were subjected to forced fasting under religious beliefs, with five believed to be children of preacher Paul Mackenzie.
