Not even a chicken left in village, Zamfara woman recounts bandit terror

A 55-year-old woman, Fatima, recounted the horrors of bandit attacks in Zamfara State, where residents often face a tragic choice: flee and risk being shot or stay and be abducted. She reported that her village was attacked at 2 a.m., with bandits dividing into three groups to surround the community. After the attack, Fatima and other residents fled to a forest for refuge before eventually making their way to Gusau, the state capital, where she now lives in a temporary camp with her seven children.
