Abu-Bilal al-Minuki: ISIL’s shadow commander in West Africa

Nigerian President Bola Tinubu announced the killing of Abu-Bilal al-Minuki, described as ISIL's second-in-command, during a joint military operation with the United States in the Lake Chad Basin. Al-Minuki, a former Boko Haram leader, was killed along with several of his lieutenants in a complex air-land operation in Metele, Borno State. His death is seen as a significant blow to ISIL's operations in West Africa and the Sahel.
