ADC: INEC brushes off calls for Amupitan’s removal

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) dismissed calls for the resignation of its chairman, Prof Joash Amupitan, following the decision to de-recognize David Mark and Rauf Aregbesola as national chairman and secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC). INEC stated that the chairman can only be removed through a constitutional process, as outlined in the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. The commission also emphasized that it complied with a Court of Appeal judgment to prevent situations similar to those in Zamfara and Plateau States.
