ADF Activism in Eastern DRC: MONUSCO and FARDC Strengthen Civilian Protection

In response to a surge in ADF attacks in eastern DRC, MONUSCO and FARDC are stepping up efforts to protect civilians, particularly in the Irumu and Djugu territories in Ituri and in Beni, North Kivu. On June 5-6, 2026, joint patrols were conducted in several locations including Mavivi, Mbau, Oicha, and Eringeti. On June 7, UN peacekeepers in Komanda secured civilian activities. The aim is to prevent ADF incursions and reassure local communities.
