AES – ECOWAS: No De-escalation According to Ibrahim Traoré as Long as Mentalities Do Not Change

Burkina Faso's President Ibrahim Traoré stated that regional de-escalation is impossible without a change in the positions of neighboring ECOWAS member states. He mentioned tensions with Côte d'Ivoire and Benin, accusing some leaders of taking orders from Paris. Traoré also highlighted that Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger formed the Sahel States Confederation in response to ECOWAS's military intervention threats. Despite the organization's dialogue efforts, no tangible results have emerged.
