Dangnivo Case in Benin: Hearing Adjourned After 30-Year Sentence Request Against Alofa

The trial of Pierre Urbain Dangnivo at the Cotonou Court of First Instance was adjourned until July 16, 2026, to allow defense lawyers to present their arguments. The prosecution, represented by prosecutor Olushègun Tidjani Serpos, requested 30 years of criminal imprisonment and a fine of 150 million CFA francs against Codjo Alofa, along with a requalification of charges to complicity in murder. For co-defendant Donatien Amoussou, the prosecution sought 60 months in prison for fraud. The defense lawyers, led by Me Théodore Zinflou, requested additional time to prepare their response, arguing that the prosecution's demands introduced new elements.
