In Kenya, community conservationists led by Zulfa Hassan are restoring mangroves to protect coral reefs. The planet has lost 50% of its coral reefs, and over 80% are experiencing bleaching stress due to global warming. The scientific project 50 Reefs Plus has mapped coral refugia capable of surviving climate change, revealing their distribution is three times larger than previously assumed.
