African football confederation backing Infantino re-election bid

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced on Thursday its support for Gianni Infantino's bid for a fourth term as FIFA president. This decision was made unanimously during a meeting ahead of the FIFA Congress in Vancouver. Infantino, who took over FIFA in 2016, was re-elected in 2019 and 2023, and he is allowed to run for re-election in 2027 after a FIFA ruling stated that his first partial term did not count towards the total.
