Africa’s Lithium Pipeline Gains Momentum as Global Supply Deficits Loom

Rising lithium demand is positioning Africa to attract foreign investment and strengthen its role in the global battery supply chain. In 2025, Africa became the largest source of new lithium supply globally, surpassing the output of the rest of the world combined. Ongoing projects in Mali, Zimbabwe, Ghana, and Namibia are enhancing this momentum, while the Manono lithium project in the Democratic Republic of Congo is expected to begin operations by late 2026.
