Africa’s progress towards food security

Africa faces significant challenges regarding food security despite its agricultural potential. Approximately 50 million people are affected by drought, particularly in Somalia, Ethiopia, Kenya, South Sudan, and Sudan. The region consumes about 20% of global food aid, and early warning systems are needed to mitigate these challenges.
