In Mauritius, the Director of Public Prosecutions has appealed the Intermediate Court's decision to dismiss the case of the safes targeting Prime Minister Navin Ramgoolam. The prosecution argues that the verdict rendered Monday is erroneous in law. The case was opened after Ramgoolam's defeat in the 2014 elections, and an investigation found the equivalent of 3.62 million euros in a safe at his home. He was prosecuted for cash payments between 2009 and 2015, contrary to the anti-money laundering law; the procedure remained suspended until his return to power in 2024.
